This item is part of our new 2009 Spring-Summer collection. These long spats were developed by Reversal and Isami to provide extra comfort, protection, hygiene and friction during intense training sessions. Now available in five colors (blue is sold out and discontinued).

I have been looking for this for a long time and I'm really happy to finally find it. I wear the spats under my shorts in my submission wrestling classes. It also looks really cool: everybody at the dojo is asking me about it (-; Thank you.

The Octagon Long Spats is my second pair of spats from Chokesports. My first pair were the original RVDDW Long Spats which I had given 5/5 stars and extremely high praises. I purchased a pair of the RED Octagon Spats in size Large. I am 5 foot 8, 155lbs. In comparison to the RVDDW Long Spats, there are a few differences that are noticable right off the bat. The material mixture is different. The RVDDW Spats were made of 86% Polyester and 14% Elastane, while the Red Octagon Spats were made of 85%/15%. Now, you may think, "So what? It's only 1% off?", but to tell you the truth, that one percent made a really big difference. The Red Octagon spats were a lot more stretchy, and felt a bit thinner than the RVDDW spats. The problem with that is that the stretchier the material is, the less it holds the shape. My Red Octagon spats are stretched out a bit too much, and has now become loose around the back of the knees, and also around my groin. What could be contributing to the difference in material blend is the fact that the RVDDW Spats came only in Black material, while I had purchased the Red Octagon Spats (MAYBE the color of the material affects the blend). The second major difference is that the Octagon spats do NOT have ankle grips. This is a MAJOR downfall for this version. For me personally, I found that the ankle grips provided traction to keep the ankles from riding up past my knees. The RVDDW version had the grips, but the Octagon version doesn't. In my opinion, the lack of the ankle grips and also the thinner material blend does not warrant a price increase of $25USD. Also, Isami/Reversal is still screen printing their images onto their stretch fabric, meaning that the prints will crack and rub off the material over time. Isami/Reversal HAS TO consider changing their printing technique to Sublimation printing. For the price that I paid (~$130USD shipped), I feel that the Octagon Spats are far less superior than the RVDDW Long Spats version. I gave the RVDDW Spats version 5/5 stars. I would have to say due to the extreme price difference and lack of the features that made the RVDDW version great, the Octagon version gets 2 out of 5 stars for me. I still have mad love for Reversal, but please take these recommendations into consideration for your future models.

I ordered size M, but unfortunately it was sold out in the colour I wanted (white), so I had to opt for size L instead. I'm 5'7" (174cm) and about 187 lbs (85kg). The size L is too loose on me and ankles roll up. The material is thin and wears down rather easily, which is a shame as these spats really look the part and I would like to wear them for years to come!

like everything else i buy from choke, I order 1 size bigger... but this time, these spats fits as ordered. I ordered an XL thinking that it would be just right, but actually they're too long. So if you do decide to purchase these, make sure you get your normal size. the material is fine, i actually prefer these over my under armour brand leggings because these spats are very light but help with nogi grappling with grip in half or full guard... I dont know why the price went up, but if you are looking turn heads at the gym then "add to cart"!
