The traditional Japanese apron or 'Maekake' is ingrained into Japanese culture, and has been since as far back as the Edo period. The name 'maekake' is consisting of the Japanese word for mae, meaning 'in front of' and the verb kakeru, 'hanging'. These aprons have their own distinctive texture thanks to the traditional weaving process and feature a defining fringed hem.
