Sizing the Isami Classic BJJ Gi
The Isami Classic BJJ Gi comes in standard Brazilian sizes A0–A5. Follow our detailed size chart to find your perfect fit. This gi is not pre-shrunk, but the size chart shows post-wash measurements so you know exactly what to expect. Originally designed with a broader cut, our collaboration with Isami refined it to an IBJJF-approved competition fit that minimizes excess fabric while maximizing mobility and performance.

Expect Some Shrinkage: Your gi isn't pre-shrunk. It may look a bit large at first, but will adjust to the perfect size after 2-3 washes.
Washing Instructions: Wash at a maximum of 40°C. Avoid bleach to protect the fabric's integrity. Dry cleaning is safe.

Hang Dry Method: Use separate hangers for the top and pants. Dry in the shade to maintain its shape.
Tumble Dry Caution: If using a tumble dryer, stop at 80% dryness to prevent excessive shrinkage. Then, hang it to finish drying.

Best Black BJJ Gi. This Gi is super tough and comfortable. It's a more traditional cut than other gis that I've worn but I love it. I will buy another when it wears out, though I don't anticipate that happening for a long time.

Excellent quality, fabric, and look!!. Overall, I am not an expert with gis but as my first gi purchase I am very pleased and happy about this product! Not only is it made in Japan which I like, it is definitley good quality and even looks amazing both on and off the mat. I am new to Jiu Jitsu as a whole but I definitley feel great with this gi on, and don't feel like it is too heavy or in the way so to speak you know? The belt was in supreme condition and the stiching was great so nothing to complain there!The wait for the shipping was maybe 3 weeks to a month, but since this kind of stuff is made to order in japan, and since it is indeed amazing quality aswell, it was well worth it in my eyes.I purchased the black version and it feels great on the skin and looks amazing!So yes, I would buy again in a different color and would reccomend this product to everyone:)

Super soft Gi. I love how soft the gi is. I am 154 lbs and 5'5 and I got A1 the top fit perfectly, but the pants are a little tight in the thighs. I am currently cutting weight to drop to 145, so they will be perfect.
Love the Gi. When I received my Gi I was amazed by the quality of the Gi compared to my old one. The look and fit is truly amazing! It is very lightweight and soft. I do not regret purchasing this Gi and will probably order the blue and white one in the future. Really love the quality of the Gi, might have to be careful with shrinkage! I am very careful not to put my Gi in the dryer. Keep up the good work!
Isami Diamond Double Weave Gi Black. Softest most attractive gi on the market. Great communication. Fast shipping. I ordered the A4 (extra large) and shrunk it to fit. I’m 5’10” 195 pounds. Don’t waste you money on other brands. This gi is truly “The Best”!
best jj kimono. I've been wearing Isami jj gis for mnay years and I love them. The double weave is made in Japan and by far the most comfortable gi I've ever tried. I miss the old patches that used to come with it but at least now I get to customize it the way I think looks best.
Isami has the best gi on the market. Period.. Choke Sports made purchasing my Isami double weave jiujitsu gi easy and painless.Connor was there every step of the way to answer my questions. So far, I've washed it a bunch of times, but only dry it to 80%. This has prevented excess shrinkage. It will shrink a bit but the rates specified on the size chart are extremely accurate.
I am actually a sensei of a JUDO club actually several and I also do Bjj. I bought this gi and I am returning it because it does not fit me well. And the next size would be too big. Unfortunately the error in this is the money. I will lose by the shipping here to the US, most likely the tariff fee and the shipping back. Nothing like taking it in the shorts for over $100. I believe the gi is a quality gear but definitely run small for size. I have a wholesale account with Fuji and I will just buy one from them.

Thanks to Lisa I was able to navigate the web and communicate the conditions of my purchase. Embroidery on the Gi looks great. They were able to add it in under 2 weeks. The shipping costs are needed for them to send the product to the local store(for me in Tokyo). Happy with the purchase. For the Tokyo store, they open precisely on time and have Tuesdays off. I ordered a classic BJJ gi, custom BJJ belt, a tshirt. The belt was made to perfection. The tshirt is good quality and excellent fit. The gi on the other hand fit smaller than expected (even smaller than the measurements). I understand that the gi should fit the same as mentioned in the size guide after wash. However, it fits smaller brand new before a wash. I worry it may become unwearable after a wash.

Runs a bit small in my case. I would encourage to go up a size if you are on the built side, i bought an A1 thinking it would measure just fine since the site said up to 5’7. Im 5’6 180 lbs, big upper body from powerlifting almost half my life and it fits supertight, the pants are perfect!! Again not taking anything away from the quality, it is a great product. I reached out to customer service and they were very understanding and helpful.

I had very high expectations from this GI and it’s really lived up to them. The build of the GI is very good, super reenforced at the seems compared to other brans that I owned, I really feel like this GI will stand the test of time. I was nervous about the shrinkage but I’ve washed it 3 times now at 20 degrees C and it’s shrunk a tiny bit, fits very well, maybe a little tight on the tights for the first roll but after that it’s great The GI top is also very comfortable, I went for the 100% cotton and I’m very happy that I waited for it - OSS

Made in Japan. Manufacturing at its finest. This is functional art and free from all the weird patches most other gis have. It will patina like a classic car. Did shrink to a bit smaller than I thought it would.

I have been using Isami Dogis since 1988 back then they were making Dogis for the Shorinji Kempo organization Between 1988 1993 I purchased four doggies that hold up to the test of time fast forward to 2013 playing around in jujitsu. I’ve purchased six of your jujitsu Dogis And was very pleased when doing so that’s why I keep coming back this last doggie it feel like I was shopping at century martial arts with their inferior product .. This is the most expensive GI I’ve ever owned. But the quality is unparalleled. Probably the last gi I might ever have to buy. It feels so sturdy and not that heavy.
I own and train in a number of dogi from various makes, both Japanese and foreign.I’ve found that the majority of ‘high end’ or expensive BJJ gi get their fame and popularity from their colors, patches, and other gimmicks– while the keikogi itself is of mediocre construction and fabric. Certain brands are particularly infamous for this. As a result, I often find myself training in good judogi rather than BJJ gi, because they genuinely take construction, materials, and overall quality seriously. (I think the lack of patches and brand markings on the likes of a KuSakura or an Iwata speaks to their confidence in the product to speak for itself.)Isami’s BJJ gi is the only ‘high end’ BJJ gi that can go to toe-to-toe with these judogi. It’s incredibly well made, with amazing hishisashi and sashiko cloth options, feels every bit as sturdy as a double weave judogi while being a fraction of the weight, and looks great too. It’s hard to overstate the matter of the quality of materials; it’s not something you can tell from a photo alone, but before writing this review I handled my Isami as well as one from a high-end competitor. The latter is not at all a bad gi, but you can *feel* the difference in fabric quality. What’s more, Isami BJJ gi do not cheap out on the pants, which is an unfortunate tendency; in fact, the pants are so comfortable and sturdy that, in these quarantine days without judo or BJJ, I have used them standalone as workout pants.The one ‘gripe’ I have, if you can call it that, is that I would appreciate an unbleached color option, both for its look and its sturdiness. Several budo companies now offer unbleached BJJ gi, but nowhere would it be more appropriate than from the one company that makes BJJ gi with the full quality and construction of a Japanese judogi.
