Both models use a 35% cotton / 65% polyester single weave, cut and sewn in Japan. The JJ-470 Classic runs the IBJJF-legal competition cut refined with ChokeSports. The JJ-500 Japan uses an anti-shrink sashiko weave rated near 2.8% vertical shrinkage. Send your body weight, height, and desired gi dimensions, and we handle every measurement from there.

White, blue, or black lets you show up on the mat looking exactly the way you intend to.
The JJ-500 carries two phrases on its back panel: 虎嘯風生, when the tiger roars the wind rises, and 明鏡止水, a clear mirror and still water. The JJ-470 carries nothing but the weight of the oldest name in Japanese budo manufacturing. Both are woven and sewn in Kuki, Saitama, by the same hands that build for Japan's serious competitors. 🧼 Washing & Shrinkage
Expect Some Shrinkage: Your gi isn't pre-shrunk. It may look a bit large at first, but will adjust to the perfect size after 2-3 washes.
Washing Instructions: Wash at a maximum of 40°C. Avoid bleach to protect the fabric's integrity. Dry cleaning is safe.
👕 Drying
Hang Dry Method: Use separate hangers for the top and pants. Dry in the shade to maintain its shape.
Tumble Dry Caution: If using a tumble dryer, stop at 80% dryness to prevent excessive shrinkage. Then, hang it to finish drying.
🩸 Stain Management & Rotation
Quick Action for Stains: Wash immediately after practice if stained, especially with blood, to avoid permanent marks.
Rotation Strategy: Like many of our customers who train frequently, consider rotating multiple gis. This ensures a fresh gi for each session and extends the life of each one.

I bought both the 100% cotton double weave and the mixed fabric single weave GIS as I couldn't decide between them. After having trained in both, I prefer the pure cotton double weave. It breathes much better. The mixed fabric is softer and lighter but I prefer the sturdy feel and superior breathability of the double weave. Both gis are made with impeccable precision and quality. The sizing was exactly to my specifications and the stitch work is outstanding. If you're on the fence about grabbing one, go ahead and do it. Easily the best quality gi I own and I have tried many, many other brands.

It’s hard for me with my build to find a gi which really fits well so I decided to invest in a tailor made and it paid off! I followed the instructions for the measurements and it turned out to fit beautifully. I’ve gotten several compliments about it and people wondering how I got such a nice fitting gi. The quality is of the highest and I prefer this over Shoyoroll or Origin which I previously owned. And even above Ronin’s Japanese made gi which I also currently own!
I bought two (white and black) tailor-made gis four years ago and they were my absolute favorite gis. They finally wore out so I ordered two more and I was soooo happy with the new ones too. I was so impressed with my first custom tailored kimono that I almost immediately ordered it's twin. I am TOO FAT to fit anything off the shelf from any brand, and I am done wasting money buying stuff that's too small! The quality of the fabric is outstanding! It is soft, light and flexible for it's thickness. Dry to the touch much quicker than any other Gi/Kimono I had hanging to dry. You can practice your Kara-te kata in this kimono without any restriction of movement. It has that old school, competition judo lapel/collar that older guys like me remember. This kimono is not just for BJJ! Youngsters might be expecting something more status quo, while old school Ju jitsuka will love the features of this kimono! Why not request a mixed fabric kimono if your a Judoka? Simply the the best you can buy at any price!
If you are FAT and can`t find a Gi/Kimono that fits comfortably, this is your best recourse! Pick the best measurements of your current Gi collection and you can't go wrong. I included special requests about the neck size and customer support practically bent over backwards to make sure that we were all on the same page! They provided me with the most comfortable garment I have ever owned. I can justify the expense when I look at how much some charge for a so called 'limited edition' Bjj kimono on ebay! This Gi/Kimono jacket has that competition vertical seam up the back that tightens the jacket, making it more difficult for someone to lapel choke you. This gives me an advantage I wasn't expecting! I ordered two sashiko custom gis (one white, one black) back in 2014 and wanted to finally do a review after training in them regularly for four years. They are by far my favorite gis of all the ones I've ever owned. The quality of workmanship, materials, fit, comfort, and durability is literally second to none. They are just as soft (but strong & sturdy) as the first day I put them on those many years ago. I say many because in BJJ time, four years is quite a long time in the life of a gi. I have been training in them every 1.5 to 2 weeks since Jan 2014. The lapels on both are fraying noticeably around the neck and chest areas, but the rest of the gi is still bulletproof. I have never had any threads come loose or seams come apart. In contrast, the gis I had from most other companies (made in Pakistan) have lasted two years max, with fabric tears, seam failure, etc. They tended to be more stiff and scratchy. ISAMI is the very best. Even though ISAMI custom gis are very pricey, in the long run they are comparable in price to cheaper gis because they last such a long time and are built so well. As soon as my two custom gis finally wear out, I'm certainly going to order another two sets.
It's always been a problem finding the right gi for my frame. I've literally gone through all the major brands - Koral, Shoyoroll, Venum, Tatami - and was always left with a jacket or pants that did not fit me right. Some were ok to spar, but I always lacked a competition uniform that made me feel 100% good. Prior to purchasing this tailor gi I had ordered mixed sizes of the Isami Double Weave. Great gi, but still not the right fit for my frame. Connor from customer service advised me to get a tailor made gi and helped me through the ordering process. After 7 years training BJJ I can finally say I now own a perfect fitting kimono. Hats off to ChokeSports, Connor and everyone else for the excellent support and product.
First off I'll start with the good. The customer service at Choke Sports is second to none. The attention to detail on the kimono is perfect. The stitching is straight, the seams are tight, no pulls on the fabric, the cotton weave is soft and light, the craftsmanship is perfect. Now the bad, the design is poor, the cuffs are baggy making them a target for grips. The lapel is thin and the foam used in lapel is soft, making it easy to be gripped and choked. I'm not sure what type of foam is used in the Isami, but it does not feel like the standard EVA foam. Also the back is a three piece design, which makes it slightly uncomfortable when playing off your back, as it creates a slight bump. Most other brands use a one piece back in there kimono construction. This is not a kimono I'd use for a competition, for the reason listed above.

It sounds like you are used to a certain time of kimono that's very different from the product we make. For example, we don't use any foam inside the lapel as this is a traditional 100% cotton uniform. And to say that the three piece design is uncomfortable can be quite controversial, after all our Made in Japan gis are known and praised for being some of the softest and most comfy premium Jiu-Jitsu gis on the market. Many professional and amateur level competitors wear our gis in official tournaments around the world.Anyway, we understand that ChokeSports and Isami products aren't for everyone and we hope you eventually find the type of gi that suits you best.Regards from the ChokeSports team.

I'm really glad I purchased an Isami custom Gi. I've purchased Breakpoint, Gameness, and Fuji Gis previously, but each didn't fit me right in some area of my body. The custom Isami Gi fits me perfectly in all areas. The fabric and quality are outstanding. It's soft but very strong. The stitching is perfect as well. The attention to detail is really apparent when you look at it closely and roll on the mat.
Just purchased two Custom Isami double weaves, top and bottom. Free express shipping arrived in 3 business days to Connecticut from Japan. The Product was tailored exactly as I specified and manufactured in less than the two weeks they disclose. Obviously not cheap but well worth every penny. I've been training 7 years and there's no gi that comes even close in quality, durability, or construction. I had a long thread going with customer service prior to ordering and they were the most knowledgeable, responsive, and polite reps i have had experience with. Not one bad thing to say about my whole experience. I myself ordered the waist slightly too small on my pants so i might be ordering two more custom pants in the future with the waist 25% larger after i get an idea of how they shrink, which after two washes has been minimal, but this was entirely my own fault. Pants were built exactly as i specified.
This is a first class service they are offering here. I couldn't be happier with how my order was handled. This is a dream come true for people like me who cannot find the correct sizes. The gi itself is what you'd expect from Isami and Chokesports: flawless!
I got two custom size sachikos, one black and one white. fabric, craftsmanship, and overall look and feel are absolutely stunning. the kind of product you'll probably be wearing into multiple stripes on your black belt. i'm 6'1, 180 lbs, with narrow shoulder, and any brand A2 are way too short, and A3 fit like a tent. my custom size was A3 length and A2 width for jacket, A3 pants. this fit is perfect. i blast my gis in a hot dryer, the sleeves are 1 inch above the wrist bone (air dried they lie on the wrist bone). another reason for going custom is that i can't stand patches, and this can be ordered completely clean or with any number of patches upto the level of ridiculous. overall, the extra cost is well worth it in the long run, since the gi is something you actively wear most days of the week.
