Isami Wide Shinguards. These shinguards are a very unique design. Very sleek unlike modern Thai style shinguards. More protective than standard slip on sock type cloth shinguards. More akin to older pro-style shinguards, except much sleeker and lighter while providing more protective surface.The continuous padding over the striking surface of the ankle is much appreciated and does not restrict movement. The instep padding with toe loop protects toes while not impeding ones ability to curl toes back to strike with the ball of the foot. The additional padding along the sides of the leg is a nice added feature. The EVA padding is thin, light and unrestrictive, while being very dense and protective. The nylon Velcro straps are very comfortable and secure, no pressure, rubbing or slipping like leather straps.This is now my preferred style of shinguard and is one of a kind. My new go-to for training and competition.

The quality of the shin guards is very good. They are thick enough to protect your shins and your opponent during sparring/kumite (I use them for kyokushin karate, full contact sparring/kumite), but thin enough to still be able to give a good amount of impact. The little flaps on the side give an extra sense of protection that regular shin guards don't have. The straps are very comfortable and stay in place during sparring. The shin guards don't shift or turn. The extra padding on the strap for the achilles heel feels comfortable. The extra loop for your big toe is a bit tight but does what it is designed for. You can also use the guards without using the toe loop, so it's also a matter of preference. If there would be anything I could change about this product, I would like the length of the guard to be just 1-2 cm longer at the top of the shin, but that's just a personal preference. The sizing chart was spot on. Customer service at ChokeSports and the communication about my order and shipping was great, as always. Thanks again!

Materials and construction look and feel of high quality for my purpose. I purchased the XL size ISAMI Shin Guards for two main purposes: 1. To wear over pants and safety toe shoes to protect shin, ankle, and metatarsal regions of my legs when moving large objects with hard edges, in the garage, basement, and shed.2. To wear when I practice new moves on unicycles.The product fits nice for purpose 1, and I believe it will for purpose 2 as well when riding large wheeled unicycles. (I will probably use for kick-boxing practice against large punching bags too.)
My favorite feature is that the protective pad is continuous over the ankle. I have not found another shinguard like this one yet. The wide feature doesn't interest me necessarily. The ankle protection is great!
